The benefits of gaming do not just apply to youths, but also extend to other age bandwidths. Understanding this, SCOGA is working together with Lien Foundation to introduce gaming to seniors. On top of the recognzed cognitive benefits that gaming may bring about, this initiative also aims to bridge the intergenerational gap to further enhance the bond between seniors and youths.
This programme is led by our certified trainer who will address the transfer of knowledge through practical aspects during contact time, taking into consideration our target audience. The syllabus includes introducing the seniors to CS:GO, its game objectives and win conditions, as well as getting the seniors to master the most rudimentary techniques of the game, including the fundamentals of moving with WASD and learning about maps. The course also aims to remind seniors to play safely and healthily, with injury prevention and right posture guidance.
Besides this, the programme aims to target the seniors’ physical fitness to ensure their optimal performance during the game, using fitness-related esports titles to safely encourage the seniors to move around and warm-up.
Other than the cognitive and physical benefits reaped from engaging in esports, SCOGA hopes that this programme gives the seniors a social community to bond over a mutual interest.
